Art of nature
Reconnecting the nature of humans
Custom Earth Arts program
Drawing on our 32 module Art of Nature initiative, we customize programming for our partner organizations and the communities they serve. Adjusting for skill level, area of focus, and overall objective, we create offerings for all ages to build capacity and develop greater harmony with the larger world.
Renewing our relationship with the natural world through hands-on activities, our programming is rooted in the original core impulse shared by all cultures, telling our story through the stones and plants around us.
Trauma-sensitive and healing focused, we reengage with ourselves through exploration and self-expression. Utilizing locally sourced, respectfully foraged natural materials, we consider our patterns of commodification and consumption and develop a greater understanding of the physical world.
By engaging with the fundamental resources of the Earth, we begin to rebuild ourselves and our relationships through four phases of development.
STONE: We first work with stone to provide courage and the foundation upon which we all begin. Drawing with rocks, grinding earth pigments, and making our own paints, we retrace the early expression of our ancestors.
PLANT: We then expand into plants and deepen our gratitude for their abundance, not only as food, but also through the study of fibers and the role they play in our daily lives. Through function and form, we reinforce just how capable we are at solving problems and creating what we need with whatever is around us.
ANIMAL: Moving on to our pact with animals, we acknowledge the light and warmth they bring to the human story. Through wool fiber projects and working with beeswax and silk, we reframe our relationship with animals and instill greater respect.
LOVE: Our experiences with stones, plants and animal lead us to our contribution as humans -- love. We continue with projects reinforcing our most basic role, caring for each other and the world around us. Our shared nature-human dynamic is a through line to meaningful understanding, regeneration and peace.
From science-focused environmental education to advocacy for a more equitable society, our activities support a wide range of movements towards a better shared future. By more deeply understanding why our story is important, we re-wild the wild child in each of us.
