In this short work created using a webcam, a python sketch, and raspberry pi running on solar power, still images of the sky are captured and sequenced every minute for the life of a single battery charge cycle.The resulting film is accompanied by a software generated sine wave vibrating at 126.2hz in harmony with the sun. Finally, a throwaway joke becomes the voiceover toward more broad questions about how we become locked into ideas about unfathomably big things.
The film presumes that the current energy crisis, as defined by streaming media, artificial intelligence, and the various associated systems is also a condition of the colonizer logic adopted long before any of these technologies were conceived.

Sleeper is a media artist, performer, and maker, whose work humorously ponders an end to capitalism and seriously considers alternative possibilities for picking up the pieces and moving forward. His research weaves through various topics concerning technology, overt activist positions, popular philosophy, and dark humor. He investigates the ways that these topics overlap for us as we move through everyday life, navigating complex political crises through clumsy interfaces, problematic devices, and faulty systems. These investigations arrive for the viewer in the form of inherently interdisciplinary artworks and curatorial experiments, which ask viewers to deeply consider the implications and consequences of these subjects.
In addition to works released independently, Sleeper collaborates on noise projects with Huw Webb, and designs technology for interactive installations and large scale instruments constructed with Audrey Lee Love as the duo Robot Vs. Future. Along with Chalet Comellas, he served as a co-director at Unrequited Leisure, in Nashville, TN and online at unrequitedleisure.com.
Sleeper teaches at Florida State University and holds an MFA from Simon Fraser University. His installations, books, and videos have shown in festivals and galleries internationally.
